see, as it stands, i don't have a really good way to do this, to sit down and type my thoughts out a little

and i feel like journaling is good. not entirely sure why, or how, but pretty sure it's good.

i was going to talk about the actual physical setup by which i am typing, but it's a waste of time.

ice is coming, that's what they say, and they seem to be pretty reliable thems.

work was interesting and difficult today.

they tend to go together.

here comes my large grey cat. now is not a good time, mister. oh, i do love you too, but i'm talking with my hands right now, it's imporetant oh ok

hunt and peck, now

that is what this large beast has reduced me to.

www.goes.noaa.gov
geosychronous weather satellite images, and even better:
www.ssd.noaa.gov/imagery/eaus.html click on the image loops. i enjoy rainbow in my ir4 map. dunno that it's the most informative color scheme, but it is pretty.

funktop appears to be more information, though. highlights intense areas of precipitation.

i like that my cat has become loving again. he was a very affectionate kitten

inconveniently heavy, though. and i'm sorry mister, but i have a relatively short attention span for cats. and i really wanted to write something.

mgg and i have known each other ten years now.

saturn returns, i hear.

time to swim

glutino makes good gluten-free things.

my niece is about to be seven. i am working a job that is interesting and challenging.

i live with two beautiful women that i love. it is way too snowy though.

well... i did get to make an awesome snow fort, and i've never done that before.

i'm trying harder to be a grownup, to just do things that need doing because they need doing, not through a complicated system of threats, lies, cajoling, promises, name-calling, abuse and rationalizations.

which is kinda odd, i'm used to motivating myself through such means, which is by no means healthy, if you know what i mean. mean mean mean. not a word anymore, right?

trash is out. recycling, cat box, i ate food in the evening, as well as during the day, and i have laundry in the dryer.

goodnight all. one of these day, i promise.
padmaclynne: (Default)
store brand crisped rice, a little white sugar, milk to popping, and a pinch of cardamom.

seriously just a pinch though, cardamom is intense.

typing this out one handed on phone. not truly fun, but this stupid program doesn't understand up and down.

wish I had a better way to write. need to make that happen.

I love you all.

um. ta? I occasionally claim that I always want to be the kind of person who says ta, but sometimes I just claim that I want to say ta.

I'm not really rocking that ta, though, so I may retire it. seriously, I might never say ta again. I'll probably think it, though, and it might come out if we are talking about black adder and the right synapse fires, just a leaping mindless ta! bursting into the room, company to old oak tables and the finest green, and given the company I keep, churches, lead and very small rocks.

goodnight everyone.

remember:

you are loved
you love
you are love

it is snowing.

it is also thanksgiving.

we are headed to mgg's sisters' house, and bringing a tiff, but not a full explanation, because hey.

i got a new job. software development. it's pretty awesome, but it's actually work, and it is most of the day, and when i get home, i don't reeeeeally want to take mgg's computer and post to lj.

i'd generally rather sit on a couch with a wife or two and watch something.

eat food.

etc.

mgg has been cooking dinners, which is fantastic.

we celebrated Kitchenalia yesterday, and i choked up a little when i was praising the refrigerator.

which was unexpected. i mean, i know i have a weird relationship with food, but hot damn am i thankful for the refrigerator.

all of our assorted samhains went well. i was the great pumpkin for GAG, and i carried a little turnip redcap for GoG and also carved the jack for the parade. kristen was there, which was fine. the last time i saw her was at autumn equinox. kevin had died, what, three days earlier? isaac's memorial was the day before, maybe? i was out front on the porch playing with my phone, tending a farm of zombies and playing serious quantities of bejeweled, because i couldn't really handle all the people inside.

and then kristen showed up, and i know i should have rsvp'd, and it was just too many things. so i hugged norma and tiff and i said i was sorry but i just couldn't handle everything and then i walked home in the rain because i didn't want to make tiff drive, and also, y'know. i was kinda crazy at that particular moment.

it wasn't so much about kristen, she just happened to be the last trigger. i probably would have had to leave part way through anyway, someone would have made a joke or smiled too much or not enough or been too serious or there could have been a loud noise. but i felt bad because i thought she might think it was about her, and it really wasn't.

so i'm glad we got along at the vigil, although it was a little... strained at times.

tomorrow i have work, and then BTW at casa rosada all weekend, which i am excited about. next weekend is hearth work in frederick, and then

okay, food is done, gotta go.

[info]bifemmefatale's 16-year-old daughter ran away. Her mother says: "Friends say she hopped a Megabus to the Carbondale, IL area to attend the upcoming Rainbow Gathering Oct. 1. She may change her destination if she knows she is being looked for. She's supposedly traveling with 2 guys named Tim and Josh, both Caucasian, early 20s or late teens, one with a "cholo tear" tattoo near his eye. She's 5'5", 120#, reddish-blonde hair, long bangs and sidelocks, short in back, always wears her jean vest with studs and patches on it. She may be begging for spare change. If you see her, *please* contact me and the police! 16 is too young to be running around the country on her own. I'm very worried for her safety. Thanks in advance."

Click here for original post and additional picture, and to let her know if you see Morgan!

ETA: "The bus she was on does not actually stop in Carbondale. She may have gotten off in St. Louis or Columbia, MO, so any extra eyes in those areas would be welcome. She may go somewhere else entirely now that she knows we are looking for her at the Rainbow Gathering. I have heard that some of her gutterpunk friends are wintering in Texas. She could, frankly, be headed for any city anywhere in the US at this point."

ETA 9/9: "Mo was spotted by a couple different people in Murphysboro IL tonight headed for the gathering near Harrisburg!! Please keep looking near there! She is with 2 guys, Tim and Josh. Tim has a tear tattoo and a white supremacist gang tat on his arm. They are probably hitching. Mo is using the alias Valia O'Donnell.

CALL POLICE. Then call me 630-508-0112!"

Please send healing to [livejournal.com profile] papabear008.

Last week, he was having trouble breathing and went to the hospital. They diagnosed him with bronchitis, but also found something troubling with the lymph nodes in his chest.

He followed up with his doctor, who was arranging more tests to find out what was going on, but did not feel Bear was in imminent danger unless his breathing issues got worse.

Last night, he went to the hospital again unable to breathe. They have admitted him and will be running tests, including a biopsy on the lymph nodes.

Please send any healing to [livejournal.com profile] papabear008 and support to [livejournal.com profile] whillow that you can spare!

Sorry to start your day with such concerns.

Thank you!

yo yo!

fires of venus registration closes in 3 days.

this is the note aurora provided:

Don’t forget to register for Fires of Venus 2010 — it promises to be the
best yet!

As we join together in the worship of the Goddess of Love, our ritual
work, our actions, and our interactions explore what it means to be in
relationship with others. How can we better embody and express love? How
can we learn to accept it into our lives and our heart?

Registration will close on September 6th, so now is your chance, if you
haven't done so already, to snap up one of the few remaining spots. The
draft schedule and class list are online and ready for you to check out.

Welcome to the Dream!

www.firesofvenus.com

and yeah, it does look to be the best yet. i am very very excited. nervous as well, but quite excited.

it has been difficult ten or so days

isaac died on the 12th

my girlfriend sarah moved out from downstairs on her way to bryn mawr on the 14th

mgg is working mostly 3-12, so i either don't see her or i run really short on sleep

my cousin kevin died on thursday

we will be going out in a minivan, me, mgg, mom, tess and geoff. we will meet liam there.

therefore i am not going to the keeper retreat, but brina and michael will bring the flame so that's ok.

gog lughnasadh was opposite the balefire coven meeting

i went to lughnasadh, but when kristen showed up it was just too many things

i started to panic, so i walked home.

i could have handled it two weeks ago, i'll be fine next time i see her, but just too many things

and i worry that running now will make it weirder next time

but it is just too many things.

do you ever make protective camouflage food?

i mean cooking something that tastes just fine but looks horrible, because that way people won't ask you for a bite or to make them some?

not that i do all of the time, and usually i'm happy to share, and cooking for the people i love is fulfilling in a way, but sometimes i am a little crazy when it comes to food.
padmaclynne: (Default)
i just did the whole "i write like" tool thing on my last few substantive entries.

jk rowling twice, margaret atwood twice, and one agatha christie

mgg tells me i'm a girl pretty often. apparently statistical analysis of my language agrees.
padmaclynne: (Default)
hey, does anyone have the ability to scan an 18" by 24" color image for a non-ridiculous cost?

the place we found in flemington wants to charge $175 for each scan. i need to do two images.

's cool. we figured it out. place around the corner only wants $10, which is reasonable.
padmaclynne: (Default)
Oh seriously? Okay, so I'm posting slightly drunk from my phone, and the lj app I "use" (skim my f-list) with doesn't get the whole "I turned my phone on it's side and jiggled it a little, I want the larger keyboard" thing.

Sad

mgg is playing Alan wake, which is a pretty awesome game.

I climbed the cherry tree in the front yard yesterday, which was fun. I was really short as a kid, and scared of heights, and not very strong, so I didn't really climb many trees growing up. I wish I had.

Late spring, man. Early summer. I keep wanting to go for long walks late at night, but I'd also like to stay home and snuggle with wives. And i have work in the morning, it's not like I can stay out until two.

Not that my brain listens to reason or anything.

It gets very visceral, the urge to walk. My legs start to ache while I try to go to sleep, and I tend to get up at least once and pace a little while I have the "pat, you should not leave the house" conversation.

It was really hard in colorado. I ended up going on melancholy midnight walks pretty regularly.

Ok, Alan wake just got crazy. Like seriously more crazy, and this is a game where evil refridgerators assault you.

I have a new job, which is good. They're crazy there, which is less good, but money is rent and food and car insurance and eventually comfort, so crazy is ok. And I will be able to go to fsg, so seriously crazy is ok.

By the way: steampunk worlds fair was awesome, and a large part of that is due to emperor norton's stationary marching band. Fuck yeah. Makes me wish I could go up to new England more often.

Also: white elephant burlesque, baby. Viktor, happy workers is one of my secret favorite songs. Virus, you are the hottest clown ever. And lily, I loved your tank girl.

Hmm. My beverage is empty. I must correct.

Rectified!

Hey! Get a silpat. Put it on a tray you can fit in your freezer. Slice up some kiwi and honeydew, pretty thin. Freeze that shit. Freeze it good. Mmm. Yeah, like that. No, harder. Oh yeah, baby. Oh yeah. Now eat it. Eat that frozen fruit. Remember who suggested that, baby. Me. That's who.

Wow that got creepier than I originally intended. Honestly, though, freeze some kiwi and honeydew, it's worth the forty minute wait.

Okay, I think I'm done for now.

The autocorrect and capitalization makes me feel a little weird posting this, but I promise it's me.

oh, and before i forget, and while it is still fresh

was watching lost worth it?

i've never seen an episode, and i will never enjoy any part of the popular aspect of it, in that i am consuming late, but was it worth it to watch the whole?

please, tell me and argue a whole bunch.

i find i just have less time to actually post on lj nowadays.

this is not a complaint, i'm very happy, but i wish i talked more.

recorded some good stuff while talking to liam about temple layout for fires of venus.

need to join assorted events, register for things, friend people, update profiles, etc.

but right now i need to shower and go to bed, i have to be up at seven for work.

Steampunk World's Fair has a schedule!

also: the woodchuck spring cider with honey tastes like flowers.

flowers.

lots of flowers.

potpourri, really.

roses? candles? grandma's house?

weird.

SO!

There will be a sneak preview of Absinthe Heroes, Jeff Mach's steampunk musical with music by Psyche Corporation on Saturday at SPWF.

you should check it out.

so in regards to the Iron Modder competition, which is actually pretty neat:

since the whole thing is like iron chef but in creating a steampunk outfit, we need ingredients.

the basic ingredient of an outfit would be an article of clothing.

so if you had any clothes that you've been meaning to bring to goodwill since forever ago, bring them to the World's Fair, and i'll take all the clothes that don't get used to goodwill on monday or tuesday.

also:

are you a mad scientist? I, personally, am an Independent Mallet Researcher. I conduct non-partisan mallet studies, for neither financial nor political gain. Mallets are dangerously under-researched.

which means i need some posterboard for the Mad Science Fair. and to fill out an entry form, and i'll need $5 entrance fee, which also grants me lifetime membership in the Mad Scientist's Guild of the Americas.

i do need a lot more data, right away, though. maybe i can do some research tomorrow night.
padmaclynne: (Default)
from [livejournal.com profile] transversecity:

Help passing on some messages
So I have several messages to get out to the world, particularly the likely-to-go-to-World's-Fair ones. If you can spread some or all of these, that makes life vastly better.

1. We will have a Badge Recycling Program! Please, if you feel you can part with part of the souvenir, keep your badge card, but leave your badge & lanyard in the recycling bin at World's Fair?

2. We still need things for the Iron Modder competition that you'll see about halfway down the World's Fair events page.

3. If you're going to World's Fair, bring sunscreen, outdoor wear, and rainwear if there's a chance of rain! This is really important!!

4. World's Fair tickets are on sale until the 9th at 11:59 p.m. The weekend tix are $30; at-door, the weekend will cost $50, and individual days will be $30.

Please help? Even if you just mention this on your lj?
padmaclynne: (Default)
hey, are you coming to the steampunk worlds fair?

are you volunteering?

you should. email steamfairvolunteers@gmail.com

we desperately need more volunteers, for a variety of activities.

also: are you a mad scientist? you should enter the mad science fair on sunday. http://steampunkworldsfair.com/events/madscience/

and liam! you should put together a steampunk tolkein elf outfit (which you mostly already have) and enter the Steampunk'd competition on saturday. here is the description:

Steampunk’d Competition – Many people love getting dressed up as their own original alter ego, but some of us like to cosplay well-known characters gone steampunk! What if Lord of the Rings had taken place in the Wild West of America? Or Batman lurked the streets of an industrial era Japan? Or what if our leader had been Robo-velt the Steampunk president! Join your hosts and judges, The Outlanders (in their Steampunk Wars cosplays), for a chance to show off your take on an old favorite and be adored by the masses!

also, if you are in the general area of somerville, and a skilled paster/cutter/stuffer/secretarian/lovecrafter, we need things pasted, cut, stuffed, secreted and lovecrafted in the next few days. gimme a call and i'll give you the number for the dreadfuls and then you will paste and cut and stuff and secrete and lovecraft.

me is six o nine two three four one zero seven zero
padmaclynne: (Default)
Hey, are you awesome? do you need a place to live in central jersey?

My upstairs neighbor is moving out of the attic apartment on May 7th, and that means you could live in a house with me, Tiff, mgg, Nora, Josh and Sarah.

rent is $825, it's one bedroom, but it has a pretty big dining room and office/living room. We are in Highland Park, NJ, literally a 12 minute walk to the New Brunswick train station, which is NE Corridor and goes straight to trenton and new york penn station.

give me a call or email (padmaclynne at gmail) (six o nine two three four one zero seven zero) and i will answer questions and give you Mohammad, our landlord's, phone number.

he's a little confusing sometimes, and talks fast, but he's a pretty decent landlord. the house is a good house, and full of good people, but we are weird pagan poly folk, so it would be nice to get another freak.

feel free to cross-post this.
