One thing you might try, if you can stand the smell of lavender, is putting a bit of lavender essential oil in your nostrils at night before bed. It's mild enough that it doesn't burn (unless your nose is already raw), and you end up inhaling it over and over through the night. (Lavender and eucalyptus in a humidifier overnight should also help a lot.) I've used that to staved off colds and even a sinus infection one time, although the last time I had bronchitis, I didn't know the trick, but the lavender is both anti-viral and anti-bacterial, so I can't see how it could possibly hurt, and it might well help.

I also swear by brief megadoses of vitamin D to kick an impending infection, and regularly take 6000 or more a day during flu season. And vitamin D is CHEAP, which is my favorite thing of all. :-)
